Identity & Verification Notice

POPPED is an 18+, verified-only community. This notice explains how age and identity verification works, what data is involved, and — importantly — what POPPED does and does not store.

Why we verify

To keep POPPED real and safe, every member confirms they are a real person aged 18 or older before they can join a Pop Room. This is what makes “verified-only” meaningful and is central to our safety model.

How it works

Verification is performed by a specialized third-party vendor (our identity-verification provider).
You provide a government ID and a live selfie directly to the vendor, in their secure flow. The biometric comparison (matching your selfie to your ID) happens entirely on the vendor’s systems.
POPPED receives back only a result: whether verification passed, and confirmation that you are 18 or older.

What POPPED stores

POPPED never receives or stores your ID image, your selfie, or any biometric identifier or template. Our systems are designed so that the only verification data we hold is a pass/fail outcome and an over-18 confirmation. We do not use facial recognition, and we will never sell biometric data.

What the vendor handles

The vendor processes the ID and selfie to perform the check and retains or deletes the source media according to its own policies and applicable law. We encourage you to review the vendor’s privacy notice, which is presented to you during the verification flow.

Your consent

Before verification, you are shown a clear, standalone consent screen explaining the above and asking you to agree. Verification is voluntary, but it is required to join Pop Rooms — if you choose not to verify, you can still create an account but won’t be able to enter rooms.

Your rights

You may request access to, or deletion of, the limited verification result we hold, subject to legal retention requirements, by contacting privacy@poppeddating.com. Rights relating to the biometric source media held by the vendor are handled under the vendor’s policies.

This notice is intended to support compliance with biometric-privacy and data-protection laws. Your attorney should confirm jurisdiction-specific requirements (e.g., BIPA, GDPR special-category data) before public launch.
